Getting Started

Builders (start here)

  1. Journey map (why): Your First PayPort Node
  2. Hands-on setup (how): Building Your First Node

— where to type commands, what each command does, how to know it worked, what .env is

  1. Public URL: Deploy Your Node

You host your Node. Labs does not run Builder deployments inside the Labs app — not for District Zero, and not for commercial seats.

Short checklist (details are in the hands-on lesson):

  1. GitHub Use this template → create your repository from

payport-merchant-template.

  1. In a terminal on the machine where you want the code, clone your repo and follow

the explained venv / pip / .env steps.

  1. Set DEVELOPER_WALLET_ADDRESS (Merchant Template — not Labs MERCHANT_RECIPIENT).
  2. Keep PAYMENT_MODE=mock until Part Two.
  3. Prove /health, agent.json, and 402 on localhost.
  4. Deploy your repo to a public host you operate (beginner path: Railway).
  5. Register that host’s HTTPS base URL in District Zero —

not Labs :8141 / :8142.

District folders under micro_services/districts/ are Reference Node examples, not clone targets.

Platform operators (ppd-labs monorepo)

Assume the project and its existing venv are already present on the Labs host:

cd /srv/projects/ppd-labs
source venv/bin/activate

Do not run python -m venv inside this monorepo.

  1. pip install -r requirements.txt only if dependencies changed.
  2. Copy .env.example → .env. Keep PAYMENT_MODE=mock for Village teaching.
  3. Run the platform: uvicorn app.main:app --host 127.0.0.1 --port 8121.
  4. Open http://127.0.0.1:8121/health — you should see "payment_mode": "mock".
